| Dear sis, Bigamy is a indictable crime under the Canadian Criminal Code. Was he already married when you married him; or did the second marriage take place after your union to him? Having personally gone through this in my previous marriage (fortunatey we had no children together) I filed for an annulment. After 1 1/2 years of happy married life, I discovered he had married 2 years previous to our marriage. His first wife knew about me and they thought that if he could marry a US citizen, it would be easier for her and two children to also immigrate. But what she didn't realize that was that our marriage was "real", not a "paper" marriage which he led her to believe. Eventually he divorced the first wife a few years after our annulment, as their relationship had become estranged. He and his family were denied seeing his two children by the first wife when she realized that we were really married in every sense. It was a simple annulment and we remained friends for a few years more; now we have no contact. The annulment states that he committed fraud and deception to gain immigration in the US. You need to pursue this matter in finding your husband and have charges filed against him. He not only broke your heart, but also broke the law. Get an attorney and sue for child support and to have his immigration status revoked. Good luck. |
