| Respected Ahluwalia ji, This is in connection with the longish article of Dr Negi you have posted. I have had the pleasure of listening to him at Amritsar when he took part in the Seminar on The Mool Mantar. He expounded on the words "Nirbhao and Nirwair". No comments beyond that on his thoughts and also on the ideas of Prof. Jodh Singh who expounded on the word "Ajooni" in the same seminar. In our family we have an enacdote. Permit me to narrate it. They say that Seikh Saadi, who was the Royal Poet of Persia was travelling on a donkey. Enroute he decided to rest in a city. As he entered the city he noticed a crowd gathered around. He also stopped to hear what was happening. He found that scholars were expounding on one of his(Saadi's) poems. In front of him he heard thirteen poets give their versions of what Saadi had meant when he wrote the poem. In the end the last speaker got up and told the audience that they had heard thirteen emminant speakers give their views and he would now give the views held by some lesser scholars. After he gave his version Saadi got on the stage and told the audience that he was highly impressed by the knowledge of all speakers hut WHEN HE WROTE THE POEM IT WAS WITH THE MEANING GIVEN BY THE LAST SPEAKER AND WAS SORRY TO BE ONE OF THE LESSER POETS. Do you know how many scholars have gone around in circles trying to say some thing on the issue of Naam and knowing that they have not said anything and the longish exlanations are more to impress than the truth?. I should know I have heard so many of them. Jodh Singh, Taran Singh, Ram Singh, etc etc and etc. |
