Jennifer Reeds Ji,
I assume you have done great research on "Kamboj's" and it seems they were great rulers (as per your research) ... But let's be in real world and face the reality. Punjab's ruling caste is "Jatt" and Jatt have influence on present days Punjab's culture, religion and political ground.

Why people want to be Jatt? Because Jatt caste has gained high social status within Punjab and some of the other castes want to have the same status by merging into Jatt’s domain. As you know that villages dominated by Jatts have Punjabi caste system which is totally different from Hindu caste system. In Punjabi village's caste system Jatt holds the position of high caste and rest are known as his servants or dependent and this is something which has given Jatts superiority complex and other castes of these same villages inferiority complex.

If we start considering ourselves good human beings and have some spiritual ground then we won't face this social degradation of our souls and feel equal to everyone including Jatts. This inferiority complex will stay in our souls because we have no spiritual experience which can enlighten us and remove this inferiority complex.

So, simple answer to your question is that people have left great spiritual world and want to remain in ignorance of “Castes/races” and that’s something which brings either inferiority complex or superiority.

We have great example of race superiority complex which went really bad in case of Hitler and we have great example of Talhan village of Punjab where two caste’s superiority and inferiority complex started war.

Also, at the time of Rig Veda "Brahmin" was not someone who belonged to higher caste of Hindus but someone who was performing religious rituals for kings and other high caste people, so it was merely a profession which was adopted by most of the intelligent people.
