A GREENWICH council worker who had a small speaking part in a Bollywood movie is to become the first female Sikh JP in the south east. Tajinder Kaur Chaggar, 46, of Churchfield Road, Welling, appeared with her husband, Gurdeepak Singh, in a comedy scene in the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, which featured India's top star, Amitabh Bachchan. Although they had no acting experience the Chaggars had small speaking parts in what turned out to be a memorable sequence of the film, shot at Bluewater shopping centre. In the scene the Chaggars' characters unexpectedly come across their neighbours from Hampstead --played by Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol - and exchange light-hearted banter about TV soaps. Mrs Chaggar, who has worked for Greenwich council for the past 14 years, said: "They wanted extras to do a certain part and we were picked from quite a few people. "It is a film about loving your parents - about how a father finds it difficult to say to his son 'I love you'. "It is such a funny scene. I have had so many calls about it. We had a Sikh procession recently, part of our festival, and I was a steward and a lady came up to me and said, 'What was it like working with Shah Rukh Khan?' "It was, as my son said, like having a three-minute role in Titanic." After her brief taste of stardom, the mother-of-three is turning her attention to something altogether more serious - Bexley Magistrates' Court, where she will sit twice a month as a justice of the peace. She said: "The JP thing is more important. I am the first Sikh lady in the south east to become a JP. "I am really excited about it."
