KUALA LUMPUR: The newly established Network of International Sikh Entrepreneurs (NISE) hopes to build a more dynamic, global and enterprising Sikh business community in Malaysia. 


Chairman Mohan Singh Sidhu said the timing was right for such a grouping to be formed to seize business opportunities locally and abroad. 

“The world has become a smaller place to live in due to globalisation. The borderless world has created a wealth of opportunities for communities to work together and thrive. 

“NISE has been envisaged with this in mind, especially for the younger generation, which need help in this respect,” Mohan told reporters yesterday.

He added that NISE would set up chapters all over the country and hoped to have six centres by year-end. NISE has targeted its member base to reach 300 people by year-end.  

“We plan to create a platform to exchange business information and generate opportunities among members as well for members to promote their products and services,” Mohan said. 

He added that the group would work closely with the Government, private organisations and other agencies. 

NISE, which was launched last night, also unveiled its website, NISE Online. The website would be updated regularly and members can expect free listings on it.  

Mohan said NISE would hold a meeting with budding entrepreneurs soon. “We also plan to organise The Global Sikh Entrepreneurs Conference later this year,” he added.
