<<<<Needless to say,I can never believe Guruji had anything to do with Devi but a large section of Sikhs who came from families with Devi worship past were very quickly made to believe by variour Brahminic writers that Guru ji made appear Devi and that Devi blessed Guruji. The glaring proof of this domination is the inclusion of the first pauri of Chandi di vaar in our Ardas and the insistence by Nihangs to recite this var routinely which is nothing but euolising the Devi.>>>>>

Like you ,i will never believe that Guru ji had anthing to do with belief in Devi.And so are most of the Sikhs of our age.Guru ji has clearly said "Ram ,Rahim, purana , quran anek kahe mat ek na maniyo." He is very emphatic about his belief in One AKAL PURAKH and no intermediary in between.

Guru ji says in swaya :
Quote:
<<<<<<The Guru never put faith or worshipped anyone other than the One Immortal God. In Akal Ustat he writes:

"Without Thee (God) I worship none Whatever boon I want, get from Thee."

The Guru makes the above point clear in his thirty-three Swayas:

"Some fasten an idol firmly to their breasts; some say that Shiv is God; Some say that God is in the temple of the Hindus; others believe that He is in the mosque of the Musalmans;
Some say that Rama is God; some say Krishna; some in their hearts accept the incarnations as God;
But I have forgotten all vain religion and know in my heart that the Creator is the only God." (Swaya- XII)

"Why call Shiv God, and why speak of Brahma as God?
God is not Ram Chander, Krishan, or Vishnu whom ye suppose to be the lords of the world.
Sukhdev, Prasar, and Vyas erred in abandoning the One God and worshipping many gods.
All have set up false religions; I in every way believe that there is but One God."
(Swaya- XV, Guru Gobind Singh)

What you imply above is that there might be sikhs before Singh Sabha Movement who were prone to believe in distoted Brahminical theories in those days and that was mainly due to lack of awareness among them on this issue.This doesn't exist anymore after Singh Sabha movement and Akali movement which took control of Gurudwaras from Mahants (in 1920s') who were more Hindus than Sikhs and were responsible for creeping many Hindu practices among Sikhs.

If that is what you are saying, singh Sabha movement was a big success in awakening Sikhs.
