All religions simply are not the same. 1) Jesus taught one God that was triune. 2) Islam teaches there is only one God who is Unitarian. 3) Confucius taught polytheism 4) Krishna taught a mixture of polytheism and pantheism 5) Zoroastrianism teaches God is a duality of good and evil. 6) Buddha said the issue of God was irrelevant. 7) Sikhism teaches pantheism/monism but claims to be monotheistic. We cannot verify such long messages for accuracy, hence, this comment. However, the length is unimportant. Sikh path stresses upon practice, not mere theory. So, before becoming burdened with the verbal load of these messages, please consider how, the different ways of understanding God, as it is given in Gurbani, influence our lives as Sikhs. We must remember that for us, only Guru Ji's definitions are important. Jass Singh Ji, you may want to explain how "Pantheism" "Monism" and "Monotheism" is presented as distinct and separate (in contrast to each other), as you think it is, in Gurbani (please give references). Remember the old faithful, blind men describing an elephant. God is indescribable through human language. Is it so difficult to understand the variations in Gurbani? Do these variations in Gurbani adversely influence a Sikh's Bhakti? How? Please be specific. Thank you. YS |
