| Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I am amused at the omission of the most obvious factors of this discussion: 1 - The key to becoming a successful model (aside from questionable good looks) VANITY. 2 - The company these role?!? models will keep. 3 - The prancing about in "Delhi Nightclubs" as part of their loosening up and dance training regime. 4 - The comical impression which will be portrayed to the world of "Sikhs". It's embarassing enough to hear of the background Sikh dancers in nightclubs etc in Indian films. 5 - The posing these models will eventually participate in with scarcley clad female models. 6 - The materiality (maya) these models will promote through their main income generation - advertising. 7 - The fact that we do not need to reflect Sikhs in every single trade in this world. Our Guru's taught and exemplified simplicity and humility of person and life - this is completely contrary to those teachings. I suppose when these "Sikh" models start modelling sexy lingerie (women as well as men), this will also be a success for "sikh" representation. Influencing young Sikh youths to be obsessed with their body, looks, clothes, dance ablilty, cool factor is not the way to save Sikhism. True Sikhs have always been a minority and always will be, Sikhs have the quality not the quantity. I have not got a problem with these PUNJABI models, I only detest the fact that they are being called Sikhs and Sikh role models. Gurfateh. Harcharan. |
