| Dear sister Karen Long Sat Sri Akal I don't think that I have had the pleasure of responding to you in the past. Thank you for the time that you invested in making your reply and giving me this opportunity to serve you albeit with a "small brain". I was not going to reply because a verse by king Solomon came to mind: "Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Lest you also be like him." (Proverbs 24:4). There is a similar verse in the SGGS, but discretion is needed because the reverse side of the coin is: "Answer a fool as his folly deserves, Lest he be wise in his own eyes." (Proverbs 26:4-5). Your reply is not in the spirit of guru Nanak and true Sikhi and it is abundantly clear that it certainly is not in the spirit of Jesus either. Why are you making baseless personal attacks in the first place? Which tenet of Sikhi dictates this mode of operation? Strictly from a logical standpoint your attacks add nothing to any arguments you might present on the subject. Why attack me anyway? I'm an insignificant little person contributing whatever I can to the purpose of generating light (and not heat). It appears that you are not interested in truth at all but in making heated vitriolic comments contrary to not only Sikhi but also contrary to the GUIDELINES OF SIKHNET. I do not understand what is goading and motivating you to do this sort of thing instead of making a cool-headed well thought out reasoned and rational response. May be your brain is too big to do this? <<WHY DID YOU WRITE THE FOLLOWING RETARDED STATEMENT "THANK YOU FOR YOUR VERY INFORMATIVE ARTICLE BUT YOU TOTALLY LEFT OUT THE ONE CENTRAL FIGURE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUTLAWING SATI IN INDIA, THE CHRISTIAN MISSIONARY, WILLIAM CAREY,">> Please read that again and notice the word "Outlaw". Guru Nanak did not "outlaw" or "ban" the practice of sati in India. First of all there was no unified government over the sub-continent of India at the time of guru Nanak. The contribution of guru Nanak in regards to sati has been documented in another posting, where the question of maharaja Ranjit Singh's ranis committing sati was raised. As the topic of this posting is Sati, I shall not address your theological ignorance and errors in regards to the concept of "Guru" and misconceptions about William Carey and Biblical Christianity. As the old saying goes "There are none so blind as those who WILL NOT see." I think Dick touched the surface and this should be sufficient direction for what I'll take the liberty to assume is an otherwise intelligent person like your self. Love and regards. Jass Singh |
