Dear veerji Preet Mohan S Ahluwalia
Sat Sri Akal

I was going to drop the subject of Bertrand Russell, but I really wish to get to the bottom of the truth about him and his views of Sikhism if he had any. Could you please document the quotation that you gave and the context. My understanding from reading his materials is that he was obviously an atheist and anti-religion, not just anti-Christianity. The primary dogma that he tries to refute, is the belief in God, from which all religions flow. In addition to the quotations given in my previous posting, he also writes:

"In my first article I was concerned with the evils resulting from any system of dogmas presented for acceptance, --- What I had to say applies equally to Christianity, Communism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and all theological systems---" (WHY I AM NOT A CHRISTIAN p199, Bertrand Russell).

I think it is reasonable to assume that since Sikhism is not atheistic and is a religion, that it would fall under his category of "all theological systems."

Regards

Jass Singh
