| Jass Singh ji: About one year ago I had posted Toyanbee's views also. What he said was this: "...Mankind's religious future may be obscure yet one thing can be foreseen: the living higher religions are going to influence each other more in the days of increasing communication between all parts of the world and branches of the human race. In this coming religious debate, the Sikh religion and the scriptures, the Adi Granth, will have something of a special value to say to the rest of the world." You quoted from Russell's book. As the title suggests the book explains why Russell gave up on Christianity. The beauty of Sikh religion lies in the fact that the Sikh philosophy deals with how a God-oriented life should be lived. Sikhism does not categorise people as atheists or believers. As Professor Teja Singh, while describing human-God relationship, wrote in one of his articles: "A fish can either swim against the current or with the current. This is its choice. However it cannot live without water. Similarly, one may claim to be a non-believer but cannot live outside the realm of God since God does not give up on man." Russell's comments are pointing towards the Sikh way of life which he as well as many others have found to be very universal and appealing to all humans. I had posted an article that summarized Guru Nanak's philosophy to life, I'll post it one more time for everyone's reading pleasure. Regards |
