Dear Mambo
I hope you will not mind a slight correction. Jesus did speak of the "church," which is the Greek translation of "ecclesia," the "called out" ones, i.e. called out from the world, to be different and "set apart" or "holy." The church consists of true believers.
MAT 16:18 "And I (Christ) also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My CHURCH; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it."
MAT 18:17 "And if he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the CHURCH; and if he refuses to listen even to the CHURCH, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax-gatherer."
You are correct however in that many think that they are followers of Christ, including Popes but in fact are not, for even Jesus said:
MAT 7:21-23 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.
"Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'
"And then I will declare to them, 'I NEVER KNEW YOU; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'

You write < Sikhism is unique because our Gurus actually wrote their words>. I have pondered on this idea many times, but I think that if you look into it, you will find there is no direct evidence of it. The only "original" scripture is the Kartarpur Adi Granth, which was written by a scribe(s) and not guru Arjun Devji. I am still researching this point and so I am open to correction. If I am correct, you might need to re-phrase your claim.
Also more "recent" is a non sequiter, just because a religion is newer does not necessarily mean it is true. There are many false religion and cults, which are more recent than Sikhism as I am sure you are aware.

As far as Christianity is concerned, it is based on the following principle:
DEU 19:15 "on the evidence of two or three witnesses a matter shall be confirmed."
The New Testament accounts are eyewitness accounts:
LUK 1:1-4 "Inasmuch as many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us, just as those who from the beginning were EYEWITNESSES and servants of the word have handed them down to us, it seemed fitting for me as well, having INVESTIGATED EVERYTHING CAREFULLY from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus; so that you might know THE EXACT TRUTH about the things you have been taught."
2PE 1:16 "For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were EYEWITNESSES of His majesty."
Not only they were eyewitnesses but also they died for what they saw with their own eyes and felt and touched with their hands including the risen Lord Jesus Christ. Amongst his disciples was the skeptic St. Thomas who was martyred in India. What is stunning is the fact that their "guru" only preached for 42 months and left just 11 disciples, some thing unparalleled in history.

I hope my comments have been helpful. May Waheguru bless you and lead you into all truth. Bhul chak maaf karni.

Love & regards

Jass Singh
