Sangat,
I think one important issue we need to address and resolve is the purpose of langar. Langar is a free kitchen for everyone, especially for those who cannot provide adequate meals for their families due to their financial constraints. I have noticed that in the western world only the sangat who attends gurdwara (most of which are Sikhs) eat langar. We should open up langar to everyone, especially those individuals who cannot provide proper meals to their families. Why not cook langar for the homeless and distribute it to them? This would be great seva! I can understand one saying that we do not stop any individual from coming to the gurdwara and eating langar, but how many non-Sikhs out there know that the Sikhs provide free food every Sunday? Not too many. I have thought about the concept of Langar and I find it to be one of the most important highlights of Sikhi. Get the youth involved and distribute langar to those individual who are less fortunate than us... maybe take it to a shelter of some sort? I'm sure we can conjure up numerous ideas to carry out langar in its true form. :)

Waheguru
