SSA,

Hello, my name is Inderveer - i'm a 22 yr old guy from chicago - and I have a question. I've been doing Sukhmani Sahib for 2 weeks know. I want to continue this for 37 more days. A Bhai Saab said that if you do Sukhmani Sahib for 51 days, it could help clear a major obsticle in my life [the obstical, at the moment, is the Dental Apptitude Test - i'll be taking it on Dec. 23rd of this year]. One of my problems are that i have to read the english texts cause i don't know Gurmukhi... and it takes me forever to finish the Paath (at least 2 & a half hours)

My questions are:

Does Sukhmani Sahib have to be said out loud (or whispered) to have its affects [I did this early on, but it took me like 3 hours to finish the paath, also i don't know if im pronouncing everything correctly]?

Is it ok to just read the paath silently to yourself? [i do this, but my mind wonders all over the place, eventually i catch my self, but i keep on messing up. The only way i can keep my mind centered during this paath, is if i read the translations for one of the stanzas and bring my self back to the paath - but reading the translation to the paath for every asthapadee would take me around 5 hours or more...]

And finally, is it ok to read the bani, while streaming a Sukhmani Sahib file from Sikhnet. I figured it's like a Bhai Saab doing the paath with you, and you're just reading along. I did this one day, but i don't know if this had the same affect. It seems im just trying to find ways to do the paath the most fastest time, and i feel that i am cheating myself from a fruitful experience (this approach takes my 1.2 hours)

I would greatly appreciate your help - not that you guys have not allready done a million things to help the millions of sikhs worldwide :) - we really love u guys for it.

Wahe Guru Ji ka Khalsa
Wahe Guru Ji ki Fateh!

Inderveer Singh Ji - Congratulations on your commitment to doing Sukhmani Sahib paath. This bani has the power to create deep changes in your life and it will bring much peace and prosperity. If you are sincere in your heart, it does not matter if you recite in Gurmukhi or English translation. Gurumukhi recitation is much faster though. If you cannot read from Gurmukhi text, try reading from transliteration and listen to recorded recitation for pronounciation. Yes you can read silently, but as you pointed out, that requires great concentration. It is better to read out loud or in a whisper, so that your tongue moves in the correct pattern.

May Guru Ji bless you, and may Sukhmani Sahib become embedded in your heart.

.....G
