Dear Jasjit ji
Sat Sri Akal

You are right about being absorbed in God all the time while doing your duty in this mundane world rather than other way round as Sardar Harpreet Singh ji suggests on the authority of Kapur Singh ICS. The relevent quote would be

Nama Kahe Trilochna Mukh te Ram Sambhal

Bhagat Namdev in reply to Trilochan Bhagat's query as to how the former carries on his chore and how does he manage remembering God at the same time says

Nama says to Trilochan take care to remember God using your mouth

Haath paon se kam kar cheet Niranjan Naal

Carry on with your chores using your hands while keep your mind tuned to God that is free from Maya.

There are many similar lines throughout SGGS.

BTW in Sahejdhari families, to this day, the elder son who used to be Amritdhari invariably married a basically Hindu bride. This has been going on for the past two and a half centuries. It is only recently that Anand Marriage became common. Before the Nirankari movement in Rawalpindi popularised Anand Karaj, Sikhs whether Amritdhari or not were all married by the vedic ritual. So the difficulties, spiritual or practical are only imaginary.

Guru ji says

Ek jot doi murtee Dhan Pir kaheye soi.

As long as the love is there, mutual understanding of each other does not and should not pose any problem. If it does then the two are not EK Jot.

As far as the children are concerned, those born in such a mixed environment don't get confused but are much much more tolerant of the differences since they know about both the religions intimately. Hatred breeds in ignorance about others.

Humbly
