In addition to the Kirtan Program and Parade, there will be other activities for attendees. Delicious vegetarian Langar (free food) will be served all day long. A bustling Baisakhi Bazaar offering goods and services, and activities for children will be available all day long. This year, a Health Fair with six doctors will also be available to participants from 10:00 am to 2:00 p.m.

Come and Participate: The Sikh community of Southern California invites you to celebrate the 310th Anniversary of Baisakhi at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Hosted by Sikh Dharma of Southern California and other Gurdwaras from the region, the theme of this year’s celebration is, “Those who know love, know God.” Held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S. Figueroa Street, Los Angeles, CA, the festivities will begin at 7:30 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m. The program will include Kirtan (spiritual music) from 7:30 a.m. to Noon, with performances from Kirtan groups from many southern California Sikh Gurdwaras (temples), as well as various children’s Kirtan groups. A colorful parade (Nagar Kirtan) from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. through the heart of downtown Los Angeles will conclude the day’s events. View a few pictures from the Vaisakhi 2007
As many as 15,000 participants are expected to attend the Baisakhi day festivities, which have been celebrated annually in Southern California for over 25 years. The Nagar Kirtan has been coordinated by the Southern California Gurdwaras for the last eleven years.

The featured Kirtan musicians this year will be Bhai Nirmal Singh Ji Khalsa Jetha, distinguished recipient of the Padam Shri Award one of the highest civilian honors granted by the Indian Government to musicians. Bhai Nirmal Singh Ji will be doing kirtan at various gurdwaras throughout his stay in Southern California between April 4th -19th. Kirtan Singh Khalsa, Secretary of Gurdwara at Guru Ram Das Ashram said, “We are so glad that Bhai Nirmal Singh Ji could be here during this Baisakhi. His kirtan is so inspiring to the sadh sangat and we are very happy that he has been given such a recognition for his life’s work by his having received the Padam Shri Award.”
