Day 6

Dr Nijher arrived in Houston on September 9, 2002 at 7 am after flying all night. Sleeping for only an hour, he arrived in Houston to address the Senior Citizen Community in a predominantly African American neighborhood. He was well received by the City of Houston, including Fire Department Officials who thanked the doctor for his heroic efforts. Also present were officials from Houston who wrote up the visit in their newsletters to local residents.

There was excellent media coverage in Houston with the local ABC TV channel covering Dr. Nijher’s presentation. The Houston Chronicle provided one of the best articles of the tour. To read click on the link below:

The African American seniors provided the doctor with a great audience. They were extremely appreciative. Following the
presentation, Dr. Nijher immediately left for the airport, boarded a plane for Washington DC where he arrived at 7:30pm.

In Washington DC, Dr. Nijher was driven to Virginia for a late night television interview, finally settling into a local hotel well after midnight. On a side note, the airlines had misplaced Dr. Nijher’s luggage the night before and it finally caught up with him a day later.
