I once met a very high caliber, very renowned saint. When I went to see him, his disciple informed me that Sant-ji was presently doing his sadhana. I loved to hear that and so I just waited for him. When he finally came out, he was very apologetic that I had to wait. I replied, “I’m just a small little guy, what is the big deal?” He said, “Oh, we know how small you are. People think wrong, they don’t know, but I know it. I should have come out, but I was not informed. I was in my sadhana.” And that sadhana was extremely long, so that I had almost left and would have come back again later. That had been my idea, but his attendant was very charming and he kept me going and wouldn’t let me leave. I said to Sant-ji, “You really do a long sadhana?” You know what he replied? “Distance has become nearer. Sadhana has to become longer.”
