| preetmohan jee sat sri akal [1]The way you wrote clearly suggested that Sikhs would disapprove of atheists having a happy married life. [1]no way jose! I just dont care to discuss all trhe other situations right now. i dont disrespect anybody. THE POINT WAS AND IS tha we are discussing 'sikh' marriage. That's it. Period. I dont disaprove of muslim, christian, gay, jewish or hindu marriage. To each his own. WE are discussing sikh marriage. So dont make up things which i haven ot written --please. [2]Sikhism is an ALL EMBRACING religion. [2]i never said it aint! [3]We also respect people who don't believe in God. [3]we do and i do too--your patronising me on these is baseless. I know that. [4]We are NOT supposed to look down upon them. [4]hey very true! i agree with you on these basics at least.-Well done with your sikh education. [5]The Spiritual journey is something each of us will take on our own. Some are ahead and some behind. NO BIG DEAL!!!! [5] Correct again! What can i say! You are hot today and I can't disagree on these basics--MATTER of fact I NEVER haVE SAID ANYTHING OPPOSING TO OTHER PEOPLE'S MARRIAGES. EVEN BUSHMEN MARRIAGES ARE PERFECTLY NORMAL FOR THEM! [6]* The fourth verse refers to the final stage of harmony and union in married life during which human love blends into the love for God. .....The bride's past and present becomes the bridegroom's past and present. Her present becomes his and his hers. They feel and think alike and both are completely identified with each other, i.e., they become 'Ek Jot Doe Murti' meaning one spirit in two bodies...... [6] I think you need to study little further the 'ek jot doe murti" statement of yours. IF the BIGGEST joti is HIM and we are striving towards him only then jotis have a chance to be ONE. IN Egoistic stage JOtis have MANY different characters. In the SACH khand stage ALL jotis are becoming ONE!!!!!!! That's how we become one!!! YOU DONT SAY?!?!? [7]The impression I'm getting is that the EMPHASIS is between love of two people - bride and bridegroom. This UNION they ACHIEVE between themselves is compared to the UNION of man and God. I think it is beautifully explained. [7]No the emphasis is becoming one with him therfore becoming one with eachother IN HIS PRESENCE! [8]What I'm trying to say is that the responsibility lies with the man and woman to COMMIT and LOVE EACH OTHER and not to God. Of course, Godly life will DEFINITELY promote this love they have for each other. [8]responsibilty also lies in committing to HIM. [9]The impression I got from your post is that by loving God they will end up loving each other. This was my interpretation of Manjinder Singh's post which he has corrected. It just gives an impression that if you seek God everything else will follow. This is NOT true. In such a scenario how do you account for human responsibility. [9] yes everything else will follow. RESPONSIBILITY is DHARAM khand of human beings. BTW Dharam means practical duty and a duty is your responsinbility!!! [10]This is the reason I always quote Guru Nanak: "Truth is high, but higher still is truthful living." [10] My dear brothertruthful living is YOUR DHARMA. THat's your responsibility. You seem to quoting things without understanding them. [11]Js Singh ji, you need to understand that we MUST be clear in our views so that we don't mislead others through our posts. [11]TRUE and i learn by discussing. [12]Marriage is a COMMITMENT between a man and a woman. It is NOT a commitment between man/woman and God. Sikhism expects a husband's love and commitment for his wife (and vice versa) to be so great and pure that within the confines of this love and commitment he/she will experience Divinity. [12] AND experiencing divinity is 'without' committment to god????? WOW! YOUR ability to say something and counter it in same paragraph is amazing. Did you go to school for this skill or is it natural. Maybe you are having an off day.!! [13]It is in this sense that the union between the two is that of "two souls becoming one" rather than a mere physical union of bodies. [13]One cant experience divinity without being one with god. js singh |
