| Satsriakal. To All in Sadh Sangat ji! Our Gurus have expressed everything in simple and straight words. Still, it is very difficult even for many Punjabi speaking persons to understand Gurbani. The reason is not merely the language but the experience conceived in their Bani. We should appreciate efforts of those who have spent much time for translating SGGS. Their service and wish to convey the message of Gurus should not be neglected. In my view it is better to translate Gurbani word by word. Every translator may give his description in separate sentences. One understands anyway Gurbani as much as his own conscious level of mind is awakened. One remembers the taste of once eaten Rasgulla, a round sweet ball full of the rasa (Godīs Taste), when he hears this name again. You can read aloud many Granths describing Rasgulla for a person, his mouth will not become watery if he has never eaten it. The taste of God is available to only those who have come to know real Simran. Everything else is repeating of words like a parrot. Love. Balbir Singh |
