| Sir, Do you take everything you read literally? I am sure that many other religions have used metaphores to get a point across. For example, in the Bible, it is said that Jesus fed 10,000 people with one fish and one loaf of Bread. I as a critic can take this apart. For one, who counted the number of actual people there - why 10,000 exactly? why not 8,956 or 11,232? Secondly, what does that fish and bread really mean. (please remeber the following: some of our Gurus were torched to death, or in the case of Guru Gobind, his sons were buried alive - Gurus have all the power in Creation, but yet did not use it to save themselves or beloved ones). To me, the loaf and fish are knowledge of the inner world. Also, there was another line that Jesus said, "In my Fathers House are many rooms". By all other counts, we know Jesus was born in a Barn. So what happened to his Father's house. Please do not take things literally, for there are probably as many metaphors in the Granth Sahib. Regards |
