Radha-Soami Religion: Part 6 Parsadi / Guru / Dera Beas

In India Vaishnev sects used to do bhog ceremony for Thakurs( of stones). During Vam Marg it was a piou act to eat left over food of an Achariya and still some people follow this.

In sikh religions eating of left over is not accepted. From Guru Nanak Dev ji up to Guru Arjan Dev ji an offered food used to be touched by hand by the respective Guru ji. Touching of parshad with Kirpan was started by Guru Hargobind ji. So in sikh religion there is cleanliness involved in all the ceremonies.

But eatng of Parsadi (left over food of a Guru), for Radha Soamies is a very pious act.

Parsadi: Parsadi sa yeh matlub hai ki sant Guru ja sadh guru apni jaban ja lub(saliva) laga kar pavitar kar dah.

Meaning Guru should touch the food with his tongue or saliva from mouth and then food becomes Guru ki parsadi. ( Prem Patar Jilad 4, p 104)

On page 779 of Sar Bachan one find:

One lump of Parsadi opened up my mind

Peak dan lai peek karawai ... meaning licking of spitting or saliva.

there is reference for smoking but I am not sure whether it is parsadi.

Kuli dahee swami kul mera udhara. Meaning drinking of Kurli or chuli

The question which comes to mind is this:

If with peek dan (saliva licking) or food parsadi is going to open up one's Dasem Duar then what is the need for Alti Palti assen, Shabd suret excercises, triquti sunn guffa etc ??

" Licking saliva is very bad. Bugs of TB and other diseases are there in saliva".

GURU

Radha Soamies have two kind of gurus.

1 Sant Guru is the one who himself has reached the radha soami dham.

2 Sadh Guru is the one who himself has reached to Braham's or Parbramham' s place.

One should always follow the living Guru and forget about the dead guru.
Shiv Dayal singh's Guru was Naad (shabd / sound ?).

For sikhs Shabd is Guru. But Radha Soamies donot consider Guru Granth Sahib to be Guru. But then they write

" Kul malik ka saroop shabd hai.Satnam Parbraham atma parmatama kul jeev bhee shabd saroop hai. Further it is written that without shabd any other attention will not take one to Nij Ghar. It also says that it is necessary that one focuss attention inwards and on to shabd"
(Prem Patar 14, Jild 4 , bachan 2).

BEAS DERA

In the introduction briefly it was mentioned that Jaimal Singh of Gurdaspur, met Shiv Dyal Singh in agra. After retiring from army Jaimal Singh came to Panjab and settled near the villages Bal sarain and Varacch in Amritsar.

As he was doing his bhagti there, people of village Bal sarain gave him land. However they gave it in the name of Guru Granth sahib ji i.e. the Title of the Deed was in the name of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Thus a dharmsala was established there. People thought this sahdhu is a sikh because he will use Ikh Omkar Satgur parsad in his papers. It is worth noting that Radha Soamies of Dera Beas used Sach Khand( Guru Nank Dev ji's word) word for the highest position of the soul.

After the death of Jaimal Singh came Baba Sawan Singh as a Guru. Baba Sawan Singh has written two books.

Shabd Di Mahima and Gurmat Sidhant.

Radha Soamies of Dera Beas believe in most of that, described previously and use Gurbani to give credibility to their own religion based on SAR Bachan. These people donot believe in Sikh's Gurmantar and Moolemantar.

However Baba Sawan Singh believed that Radha Soami name is NOT Dhuniatmic naam. But SATNAM is dhuniatmic naam in every one and it is playing inside every one.

At present there are three branches (in Panjabi oriented) of Radha Soamies. One is at Dera Beas( people of the village Bal sarain fought court case in the name of Guru Granth Sahib ji and having won it then threw out the radha soamies from their village), another in taran Taran and one in Delhi.

Funny thing about this religion is that they are trying to see stars and moons within themselves where as people have actually landed on moon.

In Panjab I have observed that many hindus have Photoes of Radha Soamies in their shops and houses. The book I described does not say anything about the need to have hair ?

I enjoyed writing this piece of work so that I and others can understand, or get to the basics of the Radha Soami religion.
