| How long has she been deliberating telling her olds? You aint the right colour, creed and probably caste but understand this has nothing to do with religion BUT everything to do with culture and family honour. In indian cultural terms you marry her and her family will feel the eyes of the community on them, their daughter will have bought shame upon them, The community will treat her as an outcast but also her family, unless they disown her. Parents will worry the shame will affect marriage prospects of other siblings. Choosing her own partner aint too hot in indian culture either, although not so if she was brought up in the west. This honour is a strange thing, say you were a filthy rich it wouldn't much matter you weren't their match. She has a very big decision to make, don't push her. Whats she waying up is a happy life with you minus her family, or a life without you and maybe love will come a knocking in a more 'suitable match'. This may forever damage her relationship with her family....'Social Suicide' Dude its about ...time..., the indian culture in the west is evolving, try and speed it up and it will backfire, when the older generation goes so will alot of the taboos and honour rubbish. If her parents were in the west a bit longer say 20 - 30 years then they would have acclimatised a bit more and this would be harder rather than impossible. A Homogenous world it would be a seriously boring place, you got to have different cultures, religions, creeds etc.. Imagine a future where there is only one religion, one culture....what next one sex!! It just isn't cricket! If you leave her, although she will be unhappy for a while, long run it may be better for her. We often say all we want is for his/her happiness but to what extent do we believe that?
