Interesting points you bring up. However, as I was reading them it got me thinking about something else. If I were a white girl after an Indian boy, what would the views be. Is it tradition to be harder on the girls than the boys - do the women in Indian society get as much say about things as the women in American society??

I believe that her parents/family must more open minded about things, or else they wouldn't have taken the chance in coming to the US - and remember that her cousin is married to a white guy like me, and he is welcome to the family functions as well. I do not believe that she lives in a family where everyone will be ashamed by her decision. It is taking that first step with her parents that we are trying to figure out, and how it can be done best.

I understand that you, and a handful of other people think I should just leave her alone before we ruin the entire family, but we are in love and if you have EVER truely been in love - you KNOW it is NOT that easy..

I do agree with you on the culture aspect of things - however not completely. Does every "culture" have traditions that are 100% fair and true? I do not believe that things will change by sitting on the sidelines and waiting for other people do it.

As for honor in the Indian culture - How many Indian couples stay together so as not to shame their families but live a miserable life?? You will never know this for sure because the couples guilty of this are too ashamed to admit it..

My point by bringing up the above is that bad things exist in EVERY culture, in EVERY relationship, there are ALWAYS bad points - and anyone can point them out if they look hard enough. I have come here looking for something that some have deemed impossible. Love from a girl that may be my soulmate. I know American society has its downfalls, but it also has given people a voice to speak and do what they want, when they want - apparently so has the Internet and I cheerish every response I get on here - whether it be negiative or positive.

I hope that one day soon, I will get to post on here what has happened to us - and proudly declare that I am learning Sikhism with my Wife and her family..

Not to prove anyone wrong per se, but to prove that anything can be done if you have faith, love, and devotion..

Regards
