| I have been seeing a girl for a year now. I tried not to fall in love with her, but I haven't been able to help it. She was very persistant, and I finally gave in and we have been seeing each other regularly for a while now.. I knew this relationship would be hard due to our different backgrounds (I am white and am also a single dad raising my 2 year old daughter on my own). I have discovered someone so wonderful, funny, and true. She is unlike any woman that I have ever known, and if I let go of her - I fear my life will be empty without her. The problem is not with our relationship, or her being Sikh. I am completely willing to learn about Sikhism and her culture, and for my daughter to learn of it (actually it's exciting to me) - but her parents are VERY VERY traditional, and she is scared for them to learn of our relationship. I would very much love to marry her, and she would love to marry me as well. However, every month goes by - and she still has not told her parents. I am starting to feel like she is ashamed of me to her parents.. Around other Indian people she is not ashamed, but when it comes to her parents I feel that I will never be known, and that our relationship will always be stuck where it is now. I don't want to lose her, and I don't want her to lose her relationship with her parents.. Any advice you can give me I would love.. Please understand, I knew this type of thing would happen - but I am so in love with her. When I am with her, I feel a peace that I have never felt before. When she speaks to me, I know she is telling me her real feelings, at least up the the point of us being together for eternity. I am scared, I have opened my heart up to someone (which after my childs mother I never thought I would do again) and I don't want us to end up as some love tragedy.. Regards |
