Hello,

I just wanted to know the meaning behind of touching shoes. Why do some people at the Gurdwara, touch other people shoes for, it’s like they are touching as a sign of respect or maybe good luck. I don’t understand the meaning behind it. It usually happens when they get out of the main hall of the gurdware (where the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is) and are about to leave the Gurdwara. Does anyone know the meaning behind It.?

Also I just wanted to ask you know when people touch the feet of elders as sign of respect is that forbid or acceptable in Sikhism. Or should we as Sikhs only show this type of respect to the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, e.g. when we bow in front as a sign of respect.

Thanks! – sorry if I said anything offensive
