The 5th Lord of Miracles Tour in Honor of Guru Ram Das - Report from Argentina

11/14/2007

Comments Email this Article
This Tour has been an incredible historical experience. Our 6th country on the Tour is Argentina. And from the moment we arrived we were mesmerized by the devotion and growth of our community throughout the country. Our first stop was the capital, Buenos Aires and then Salta, Argentina. Perhaps, the most significant aspect of Argentina was the tremendous willingness on behalf of the people to learn the technology of Shabd Guru and Kundalini Yoga.

From the Arch Bishop of Salta to the Commandants of the Provincial Police of Salta, everyone wants to know how to handle stress. And these technologies, as taught by Harbhajan Singh Yogiji are a great remedy that can effectively manage the stress.

Our other great highlight of Argentina was visiting the Sikh community in Rosario de La Frontera, Salta Province. There the Sikh community started when the British were building the railroad between Bolivia and Argentina in the early 1900's. The sikhs built the railroad and harvested the huge sugar cane fields because they spoke English.

Today the community has a beautiful Gurdwara [the first in South America] and there are thousands and thousands of sons and daughters of "Singhs" integrated into Argentine culture. They are all known for their hard work, honest business practices and hospitality.

Even in the Municipal Building of San Pedro de Jujuay [ the province north of Salta bordering the Bolivian border] there is a plaque embedded into the foundation honoring the work and sacrafice that the Sikh community has given to the construction and development of the area.
