October 26th, while the United Nations was celebrating its 60th birthday, Senor de Milagros (Lord of Miracles) Guru Ram Das, landed in Sao Paulo, Brasil.

In one of the world's largest cities (over 18 million people) we landed in the land of Great Spirit and tremendous cultural diversity, where sky scrapers extend for 5 miles rivaling, even dwarfing the famous skyline of Manhattan. Sao Paulo is a great massive city carved out of the Amazon Jungle. The encroaching greenery on all sides of the city is the home of the famous blinding rain of the jungle which puts this zooming metropolis to a fast halting pause when the rains hit.

We were hosted with splendor by our affectionately dubbed "President of Armenia...Dharam Kaur" her three sons, who drove us every where we needed to go and all the "Armenian Citizens of Sao Paulo that love the Guru. At any moment they or some other very smiling and kindly Brazilian was there to guide us and carry us to our classes translate our words to Brazilian, carry us to Gurdwara, meals, shopping.

Our meals have been a daily feast. In Sao Paula the food has consisted of the tastiest Lebanese veggie food; puffed hot melt in your mouth Pita breads, delicately spiced mini Zatars, exquisite Baba Ganoosh, sublime baklava and heavenly exotic looking sweets. We have been taken to the best Italian Restaurants all over South America and tried the best pizzas to rival New York and Italy.

The warmth and the passion of the Latin's translate to being up together until 12 or even 1 am in the morning talking. People will take every opportunity given; to share, ask for guidance, give upliftment, counsel and enjoy the moments before and after classes.

Greetings here are a requisite stop at each person and give a one or two cheek kiss and a hug. All adults and children will greet every person in the room with this affectionate greeting.

Our first class in Brazil was in the power of Gurbani.

Taught by Sardarni Sahiba Sat Kirin Kaur Khalsa singing Ram Das Sarovar Naatay.......and Wahe Guru and having the words of Guru Ram Das translated very sweetly by our beautiful translator into Portuguese was a new and VERY powerful experience for me. All the class attendees had a powerful experience and had many words to share about how deeply the Guru touched them.

And we are many thousands of miles from the Land of the Gurus.

Saturday morning in the Amrit Vela we did deep Simran together with one group. from Rio de Janero. Guru Bachan Singh called these people affectionately "Karaoke's.

In the afternoon, Singh Sahib Guru Bachan Singh warmly introduced Guru Ram Das to a class of over 140 people. In an attentive collection of students and teachers and family members many had driven from far away places in Brazil to attend his class.

Six hours from Rio de Janeiro, and 12 hours from other centers by bus together.

Amidst smiles and laughter they listened with delight to the stories told by Guru Bachman Singh. There were many tears of concentration and even cries of challenge and even joy as the class meditated to "Chattara Chakkara Varatee......." (played on the new CD, LIGHTNESS OF BEING) the bani of Guru Gobind Singh with their one arm raised for almost 30 minutes.

Then everyone learned about Guru Ram Das and his life of devotion and love and meditated on "Mera Man Loche Gur Darshan Taa-ee........" live with Ramadasa with Satkirin Kaur and Jai Hari Kaur leading the music on Harmonium and Tamboura.

Concluding the class with dancing, we never saw such great Bangra dancing. Such joy and freedom and innocence as we had seen in any of the countries we had traveled this month.

What a joyous and heartfelt closing to our October tour as we met on Sunday in the Guru Amar Das Gurdwara built by the late Guru Sevak Singh and his wife Subagh Kaur Khalsa. Our Granthi Hari Dharam Kaur Khalsa was there to teach a sweet and inspiring class on the sacred sound to students and local Punjabi families that came to the kirtan program.

At the last two days of our tour will take us to Bogata Columbia, our final destination. With more to share with you to come, in the love and joy and harmony of the Lord of Miracles, Guru Ram Das ji.
