SS Mukta Kaur Khalsa

As the Siri Singh Sahib’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs, I believe I have the most interesting job in the world. I serve a multi-faceted Master who wears many hats, or shall I say turbans.

He is the Chief Religious Authority for Sikh Dharma of the Western Hemisphere, has a Ph.D. and is a licensed psychologist, is a master of Kundalini Yoga, and serves as a consultant to political dignitaries and government authorities.

I will outline some of the interesting events the Siri Singh Sahib has been involved in during the last 6 months.

In his capacity as Master of Kundalini Yoga, he conducted a workshop at the New Mexico Counseling Association Conference to counselors, educators, career developers, and therapists on the topic, “The Application of Yogic Science to Addictive Behavior.” The course was available for Continuing Education Units, which are required for professionals in order to maintain their license.

The Associated Press covered a story, “Diversity of Religions in New Mexico.” It highlighted the Siri Singh Sahib and the Espanola Sikh Dharma community. Several other newspapers throughout the United States picked it up since the story was on the Associated Press wire.

The Siri Singh Sahib taught at a Sikh Youth Camp to over 2,000 teenagers in India. He also attended and lectured at the Parliament of the World Religions Conference in Capetown, South Africa. His workshop, entitled, “Entering the New Millennium with New Energy” was very well received. While in Africa, he taught a meditation course in Capetown and Johannesburg, “Meditation: Create The Power To Attract Prosperity.” Several major newspapers covered the stories of the Siri Singh Sahib teaching on the African continent for the first time and of the missionary work that Sikh Dharma is doing locally and internationally.

The Siri Singh Sahib conducted the invocations at the Opening Session of the New Mexico State Senate and the Democratic Annual Dinner in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He also served as a co-coordinator with Jathedar Manjit Singh for the First International Integrative Medicine Conference in Anandpur Sahib, India, where dedications were conducted to open a new drug addiction and rehabilitation center, as well as a Research Institute for Alternative Systems of Medicine. A four-day Free Clinic was available to all people during the conference.

President Clinton visited India in March. This is the first time an American president has gone there in 22 years. The Siri Singh Sahib and his wife, Dr. Bibiji Inderjit Kaur, were invited to a reception with the President at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence. The Siri Singh Sahib was unable to attend. Bibiji met with President Clinton and many of his American delegation of cabinet secretaries and congressional legislators.

The Siri Singh Sahib will be hosting Peace Prayer Day in Espanola on June 17, 2000.
