What is "Birthday Bheta?"
Sat Nam Dear Family,

As you know, the Siri Singh Sahib will be celebrating his 74th Birthday this year on August 26th. For the past 34 years, he has tirelessly and devotedly shared his light and teachings with us. He has reached into all of our hearts and has elevated us to meet our dharma and destiny. From his selfless actions, we will always be blessed.

His birthday is always a great celebration, and it is a time of giving back and honoring him with our love and generosity. There is a very old tradition in India called Bheta; it is timeless. Bheta is the act of the student giving to the teacher to show one’s gratitude and respect. It is an action of pure devotion and selflessness because it is given with nothing expected in return. Bheta is traditionally a gift of money. It is the greatest blessing for the student because it is in giving that we receive.

As you meditate on what to offer your teacher for his birthday this year, meditate on the blessing of Bheta. Think of what the Siri Singh Sahib means to you, how he has affected and elevated you in your life. Honor your love for him with a gift of money that reflects the depth of your grace.
