Summary of Question: | Days Of The Week |

I am not an amritdhari sikh as I drink alcohol and eat meat, but still have the up most respect for sikhism.
On a Tuesday I refrain from all dairy products, alcohol and meat just for this one day. I have been doing this now for quite a number of years. My parents have also done this for as long as I can remember.
Recently when discussing this with my brother (who is a vegitarian and is tea-total) he said that he couldn't understand why I do this 'Tuesday thing' he belives that if you drink and eat meat you should do it no matter what day of the week it is.
I told him that I do it to give my body a break from meat and alcohol and is just part of my everyday life.
My question is that as a Sikh is this good or bad practise.
(REPLY) Sat Nam. "As a Sikh" EVERY DAY should be considered like your Tuesday! Who are you kidding when you ask about whether it's a good or bad practice? Good grief! If you've got enough sense even on a physical level to know your body needs a break, then give it a break every day. Otherwise, there's no way to answer your question!
