Summary of Question:Re: Consequences Of Shaving
Category:General Sikhism
Date Posted:Sunday, 10/14/2007 9:00 PM MDT

I am that sikh boy listed under consequences of shaving. First off, I would like to ask: Why did you use my personal question as an immoral example to show off to the world? That hurts me even more, please delete my segment because leaving me in handcuffs in front of a crowd is worse than being handcuffed in one's own private home. Secondly, I would like to add there is nothing wrong with trimming your beard. I realized that my Dad, my grandfather, and my Uncle trimmed and shaved when they were young.I forgot to metion that my father, the very one who gave me the sad look was already informed I was going to shave and he didn't mind. My grades are back up(there was only 1 B at the time, the rest were A's)and I am applying to Harvard, Yale, Columbia, and Brown. I am the happiest any kid could be. I am just a little angry about you using me as an example like that. Please, delete my segment. Please!

P.S. This is my current e-mail address.
Thank you

My dear,
Very humble apologies for any pain you endured from someone's posting on Sikhnet. I am not aware of the posting you are referring to. Please consider how you opened yourself up on a public forum that promotes the Rehit of Guru Gobind Singh.

Also, consider that the realm of SIKHNET is to inspire people to live the lifestyle of the Guru in the form of God. So, trimming of the beard is not in anyway part of our lifestyle or an example or teaching given.

The fact that men in your family trim their beards does not change this technology. They may have been trained that this is OK and thus taught you the same. But you must know differently by now.

If your father was a robber or a killer would that make it righteous for you
to rob and kill? Of course not!

Accept the results of your actions. Shaving and cutting is irritating to the body and the magnetic field. So, you are feeling irritation and this is understandable.

Best wishes to you in your pursuit of your studies and college.
