Your post on married life made me laugh so hard...you are where I was five years ago in my life. My husband and I had just married and I was determined to be a good cook, keep in mind I was raised in a totally different culture than my husband and was more at home cooking mac and cheese, than roti. After trying really hard to learn from my mother-in-law, which was difficult due to the language problem, I invested in Indian cookbooks. Many are quite simple and easy to follow; with practice you will become a good cook. My husband found it to be touching that I was trying so hard and never said a word about some of the disasters I prepared early on. I used my cooking time as a bonding time with my mother-in-law and now we get along great, what has impressed my mother-in-law the most is that I try hard to take good care of her son. To most mothers-in-law’s this is the important part, do your best to take care of her baby and she will love you. Good luck and if you would like to exchange recipes, my email is [email protected].

Blessings
