In reply to the posting on Tattoos:

Brother why on earth would you want to deface your body with a tattoo. I have seen Sikh boys with Pamela Anderson style tatoos i.e. around their left arm. Personally I have seen many who have such Tattoos and to be honest I find it hilarious.
In my (own) opinion tattoos are as uncool as smoking - they look terrible.

As the moderator correctly states what are you going to prove by having one regardless of design or wording? Leave it.

Love and devotion to God and his creation come from within and manifest themselves in the actions we make and how we treat others. They do not come from the size of our Kara in comparison to others or if we have a Tattoo. Faith and relegion is not a fashion statement so forget the materialistic side of things and as it is permanent you might regret having it later as you get older!

Never mind whether others are having tattoos done they are a little misguided. If they jumped off a bridge would you be forced by peer pressure to follow or copy them?

God Bless

Hi I am considering having an ek on kar tattoo on my arm. I am a sikh guy who believes there is nothing wrong in doing this however some of my friends think that this is a bad idea. As it could show disrespect. Can you please advise me on this, is it wrong to have ek on kar tattooed on my arm?

Well, you are injecting ink into your skin and body and what are you trying to prove? Does it make you think of God and encourage you to sing Gurbani and do your nitnem and live in your form?

Probably it is a cool thing to do that your peers are doing. Then you are a follower in some material emptyness.

Best to be a leader.....rather than a follower. Lead your peer to be righteous and bright and serve the good in all life.
