The Shabd Guru technology, embodied in the Siri Guru Granth Sahib, though rooted in the Sikh Religion, is not just for the Sikhs. This technology was given to everyone, so that each human being would have the capacity to attain a deep and personal experience of the religion of his or her own choosing, for we are all created from a common pattern, and every human is filled with the Light of the same Creator.

The Siri Guru Granth Sahib is unique. It is unique, because not only is it the container of the divine technology of the Shabd Guru, which is so necessary for living a spiritual and conscious life in the 21st century, but because enlightened beings from all faiths and walks of life contributed their poetry to bring it into being. It cuts across the dividing lines of wealth and poverty, education and lack of education and Muslim and Hindu. It goes beyond our concepts of what is holy, and embodies the essence of the truly holy. It speaks to the heart and soul, not to the mind. It is not a history, nor a collection of parables. It brings together weavers, butchers, tanners and cobblers in the bosom of the divine – the flow of the sound current of ecstatic union with the One.

The Siri Guru Granth Sahib is the "Anbhav Parkash," the God realized. It is not just a book, it has the word of God embodied in it. This is the first time in the religious history of the world that the "Word" of God is manifested and is the living Guru. The Word of God in it is the Gurbani and Gurbani is the Guru (Baanee guroo, guroo hai baanee vich baanee amrit saare).

The Siri Guru Granth Sahib is the unique combination of ethics and theology, love and devotion - love, truth, contentment, humility, fatherhood of God, brotherhood of man, restraints on passions, mercy on living beings, purity of mind and body, search for Higher Self - all these make the religion of the Siri Guru Granth Sahib as universal religion. Every aspect of the life of a Sikh is guided by the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. That is why Sikhs sing: Mai gurbaanee aadhaar hai gurbaanee laag rahaao.
