Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

Guru Nanak's best friend was Bhai Mardana, a Muslim. Guru Arjan Dev Ji was best friends with Mian Mir Ji, a Muslim Sufi. So being friends is not restrictions.

However, with regards to food, I think the appropriate asnwer is "It Depends". If you are going over and eating vegetarian food, then there is no issue. If however, you are eating meat, then there is certainly a big issue.

Sikhs are forbidden from eating meat killed in the Muslim way, Halal and also Kosher meat. This is because meat killed in this way is ritualistic, and a scarifice to God. Sikhs do not believe in this practice. Also, the animal is made to suffer, somtimes for hours and hours while it slowly bleeds to death.

Although Sikhs should not eat meat, but if you do, please do not eat meat killed in this manner. The animal is truely killed in a most vrual way and endures much pain and suffering.

If you need proof of what Halal is, please check out the following videos. Please be warned that the videos are very graphic.

This video is but one example, but all the animals are killed in the same way.

Hope this helps with your decision,

GurFateh!
