I would just like to say - Well done moderators, altho you have been going for so long with the QA forum, you still havn't lost your motivation to continue doing the excellent job which you are.

Anyway - I would just like to point out to everyone, as it was pointed out to me yesterday.

We are tying a blindfold around our eyes, we keep talkin about we should use this prayer for this, we should use this prayer for this and so forth.

I'm sure most of you will agree, the message given to us by guru ji, is naam simran, we can continue to recite different paats, but we dont do what the paat says, the paaat is telling us to recite god. "waheguru"

so if you think that by reciting the paatt, you will gain alot, think what you will gain by doing what that paath says

what do you think moderators?

"Naam Jaapath Nanak Jeeveh, Seethal Maan Seena Raam"

Guru Ang Sang,

If I have said anything wrong - Shima deh Jachik han, anjaan bache samajj ke maff karna

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Of course, the "highest" mantra is Wahe Guru, it is the mantra of ecstasy, and it's what Guru Gobind Singh gave the Panj Piare. However, even in Siri Guru Granth Sahib, it tells us to repeat the Name of God, "Har Har." So, there are various combinations of syllables, vibratory frequencies that we call mantras. Even the Mul Mantra is a mantra! And the various ones have various intrinsic characteristics or powers. So by all means, chant Wahe Guru! But that doesn't preclude also chanting Sat Nam -- which is the seed sound (bij mantra). There is a technology to our Guru's teachings, and when we understand that, we can benefit even more from our recitation of Banis, and reading from the Siri Guru Granth Sahib. Every word we speak (and every thought we think) establishes a connection with an harmonic vibratory frequency in the universe. So, just as in the Ardas, we include individual prayers for healing or blessings for special occasions for people, we can also include in our meditation practice those mantras that relate to specific circumstances in our lives. Each Pauri of Japji Sahib has a special emphasis, and repetition of that Pauri encourages that energy to manifest in our lives. (Read: "Psyche of the Soul". It contains all the banis with English translation, Gurumukhi script, and transliteration in English as well as description of the inherent power in the shabd. You can order from Hand Made Books, 899 N. Wilmot Suite C-2, Tucson AZ 85711
