Wjkk Wjkf

i am looking to get married soon but have a dialema on my hands. i'm proud to be a punjabi man but feel that SOME of our customs contradict Sikhi.

my family are all up for the mayi-aa (tumeric paste thing) and the hall, but i'm not.

i kind of some of them as being Hindu influences and other's just punjabi but i want non of it. i just want to get married infront of my Guru. But i've never seen a "Religious Wedding" in my life.

So what im saying is, how do Sikhs in espanola have their weddings set-out over the wedding period. I just want an insight into how to conduct my own wedding.

Thank you

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Does your prospective bride have the same feelings about the wedding that you do?? In any case, I would suggest that you phone or send an email directly to the office of the Bhai Sahiba in Espanola so that you can personaly discuss this matter. You might also go to the home page of SikhNet and click on the link to the Sikh Dharma Manual and find the section on Weddings. May God and Guru bless you with a happy and holy wedding and a divine union. SP ([email protected] or phone 505-367-1324 )
