Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa!

Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

I am youth sikh women living with my father's family and my mom. My mother does all of her banis everyday.

I went to a sikh youth camp two years ago, which changed my live for the better. I want to go this year, but my mom doesn't want me to go. She has a feeling if I go something terrible will happen. She doesn't want me to go. I am craving the Saah Sagnat so badly. I feel if I do go, she will be saddened by actions. I feel the need to go. I am so unsure of what to do. My grandparents have sent me for the past two years. Last year she didn't want me to also. I did go, and still remember the lectures which I recieved. This year my grandparents don't want to upset my mom, but do not see how I am upset. I don't understand how someone who does so much Panth doesn't like the idea of her daughter being in saah sagnat. She has told me if I do go she will disown me.

Please answer quickly, within a couple of days.

Sat Nam,

It seems that the question maybe only in who is willing to take the responsibility for you going. If you could take that responsibility for taking care of yourself the best possible way that helps. We all know things happen to people every day. Chances are nothing may happen but we always have to understand that there is some risk involved in going away anywhere. Have your mother been right about other things like that ?
We can't possibly recommend anything one way or another and interfere in your family business. You are right is is very nice for you to be with the Sangat. Maybe you could ask your mom to elaborate and explain what she thinks may happen so you yourself will make sure you don't get into this kind of situation. Another thing would be to find some other person who is going, who your mother will trust to look after you. Like one of the adults there.

Good Luck,
DWK
