This topic has been discussed sooooo much on this site. I suggest that you do a search on the topic of "vegetarianism." But briefly, to answer your question, not eating meat is not just because of the Hindu tradition. Animals have souls just like we do. We are all reincarnated from animals at some time or another. As Sikhs, we don't eat other being that have souls. Then, of course, there is the ecological point...that it takes so much more water, land, electricity, etc. to grow animals than it takes to grow grain. Then there is the health reasons. Most disease can be traced back to diet. Animal residue putrifies in the intestines. Yuck!! Think about it. Do some research for yourself. Blessings. GTKK
