I used to have long hair but have recently had it cut and permed, I would like to convert to sikhism but wondered on their views about hair styles. I am willing to change!!

Sat Siri Akaal. First, grow your hair out. Sikhs do not cut their hair. While a permanent wave does not last forever, it is still altering the hair (and the chemicals used wreak havoc on your scalp!) Braid or bun your hair. We don't really get into hair FASHION as Sikhs, you see. If your hair is 2 -3 feet long, braiding or bunning it is really the most practical solution. Keeping it up on top of the head (center of the scalp for women) will raise your conciousness and keep your hair out of the way. Then cover it with a keski or turban. The turban will make you look queenly, believe me. Guru ang sang,
