Summary of Question:	Wear Dastar But I Still Shave My Legs

Hi,

I wear a dastar but am not an amrit dari sikh. I don't feel I'm ready to take Amrit yet. I have worn my dastar all my life and love it. My question is I love wearing a dastar but I also still shave my legs. Is that ok since I have'nt taken Amrit or is it wrong for me to wear a dastar and shave my legs?

Sat Siri AKaal. The fact that you ask this question at all should tell you that it is not in accord with generally accepted Sikh principles to shave or cut ANY hair on the body. That said, once you take Amrit, shaving is indeed a kurehit. Before then, you have to choose for yourself just how much of the form of a Sikh you wish to maintain.
