Summary of Question:Mixed Marriages In Gurdwara
Category:Love & Marriage

After reading a lot of responses on mixed marriages, i'm getting a bit confused. THere are ppl on here with open minds who say mixed marriages are ok. However, when in reality you go to a gurdwara they are not allowing any mixed marriages. Can someone show me where in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib is it written a sikh cannot marry a non sikh in a gurdwara? If it is written, please explain the logic behind it? Your help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Sat nam. It is NOT written in Siri Guru Granth Sahib. There are those who maintain it is part of the rehit as given by Guru Gobind Singh, but that point is also argued, primarily because 10th master did not write down the rehit himself. Without that it was easy to amend and interpret it over time.
Meanwhile, a lot of traditional Sikh families and gurdwaras will not allow it more from a point of custom or tradition rather than any hukam that is specific in Siri Guru Granth or the rehit. Your confusion is understandable.
Guru ang sang,
