Hi, I am just little confused about how life cycle works. How come some people pay for their actions some don’t. I have been going through major depression; I can notice my self-coming out of it now. I felt a lot better last week when I found out my finance had got engaged a week after we broke off. I didn’t even know why we broke of. He just left without any expatiation. So, I felt enormous amount of guilt as If I had done something to let my family down. Every time I would talk to somebody I would still say that it was all my fault and make him look like the good one. I lost my jobs. I had a mental break down and was just heading down. It broke my relationships with my family and everywhere I went. I gained a lot of wait in a short period time, and really got unhealthy. I was even at the point when I felt I had no life left in me. I tried to even kill my self few times. Finally after about a year and half started to pull my self up with the help of few friends. That I think where blessing in my life at that time. Because if they had given up on me I don’t know what would have happened because my family eventually gave up on me. I was going through very strong emotion, and felt like I was really bad person and didn’t deserve anything at all. But last week I found about my X’s engagement and I actually saw him after Year and half. He didn’t seem like had suffered at all and I found out he is getting married a little while as well. I just don’t understand how come I suffered so much and he didn’t pay at all. Where is the justice in that? Does it mean that I am bad person?

(REPLY) Sat Nam. Everything that happens to us is the working out of our karmas, giving us the opportunity to learn the life lessons that our soul came into this human form to learn. Of course you're not a bad person! You have been through some very hard times, and you have suffered. The point is, what are you going to do with this precious life now that God has given you? Every breath you take is proof of God's presence in you. Our Gurus taught us to forgive those who have hurt us, to be kind to everyone, and to remember God's Name. The events in our lives are just like scenes in a movie. Sometimes they play out like a tragegy, sometimes even a comedy, and often a drama. You have the power, with Guru's grace, to decide what kind of role you want to play! As a woman you have a great deal of power -- it is the power of prayer! Read Japji Sahib very carefully, and try to absorb the wisdom and the guidance that Guru Nanak gave us to understand life, and to make the best of this chance to realize our own highest self. When we can live in an attitude of gratitude (even being grateful for the "bad" things that happen) and surrender to God's will, accepting everything as His doing, we can really begin to be happy! God bless you with wisdom and Guru's guidance. SP
