Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji ki Fateh.

If your child is a good and loving person, than be proud of him/her.

I am a Sikh, not because i was born into a Sikh family, but because the beauty of Sikhism and our GururJi's pulled me in. I am not married and do not have children, but have thought of how i would want to raise my children, and yes i would want to raise them as true Sikhs. But at the same time, i remind myself that children, just as anything else, are a gift from God. They are to be cherished, loved, guided (to the best of our ability), respected and finally let go. They do not belong to us, and they do not necessary owe us anything - they are a gift.

Our Sikh faith doesn't say just to love Sikhs, and experience shows us that not all Sikhs are true to our teachings and just take the name of Sikh and nothing more. GuruJi said we are all of one race - the human race, and there is a beautiful shabad in SGGSJi, that again repeats that we are all God's children - Sikhs, Muslims, Catholics, etc. A true Sikh loves all, even his enemy, and if he can that why can he not love and accept his son.

Love you son. Show him who a true Sikh is. Be a part of his life and family. May Waheguru bless you both.

DGGN.
