Waheguru ji ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh
1. Yogi Bhajan ji gave these 'descriptions' of the use of each pauri.
2. Pauri (1) starts 'sochay soch na hova-ee jai sochee lakh vaar' -- so that is how to start your counting of pauris. Before that is mool mantra.
3. Yes, these can work. Have faith and keep a real practice in them.
4. 11 times a day in one sitting is what has been recommended by Yogiji as the minimum for a pauri's purpose. You can do more, or you can do it as a meditation for 11, 31, or 62 minutes.
5. Do it whenver you can make time for it, but best is a regular time EACH day, perhaps just after you do get up in the morning, or just before retiring.
6. Any practice is going to depend on the practitioner. So start with 11 minutes or 11 recitations a day for 40 days and figure it out from there. These things work differently on different people because of karms and circumstances, etc.
7. Depression can be a medical condition, so do not consider Japji pauri to be medical advice! Yes, practice it, but please be sure to have medical or naturopathic consultation as well for addressing your depression. I have to add that naam simran and regular PHYSICAL exercise also help relieve depression. Causes of depression can be one of several and so Japji pauri plus other things, as noted, are recommended together. Guru ang sang,
