Summary of Question:Salvation If Not Baptized?

Hello,

i was born and raised as a sikh, but i'm not amritdhari yet. it's been a goal of mine for the past few years to take amrit, but one thing or another has stopped me. at the present moment, i have scrupulosity (religious Obessive Compulsive Disorder) through which fear death, compulsively pray, doubt my faith, and at times i have blasphemous thoughts. if i do take amrit it will only escalate my anxiety becasue i'll have more responsibility. right now, i do pray three times a day, have kept my hair, am a vegetarian, and go to the gurdwara weekly. so my question is if a person (who prays, keeps their hair, and is an overall good person) can attain salvation without being baptized?

Also, if you know anything about scrupulosity could you make some suggestions on how to deal with it.

Thank you for your time

Sat Siri Akaal. Yes, of course one who keeps the practice even though not baptized can attain liberation. Please remember that Siri Guru Granth Sahib is clear that the one who meditates on the Naam attains liberation, and that this human life is for remembering and doing in God's Name. The answer to your question about religious scrupulosity is meditation on the Naam. This will assist your mind in relaxing its fears and anxieties, and make you happier from within (sukhsahej). So start your practice of that with a few minutes a day and then build it up to at least 31 minutes, but 62 is better. See the meditation category on this youth forum for more on this.
I also highly recommend you undertake a sehej paath of SGGS, read a little daily, or make it part of your naam simran, and this too will ease your mind and anxieties, not to mention teach you Guru's simples lessons repeated again and again in the Gurbani. Guru ang sang,
