Summary of Question:Can Sikh's Serve Halal Meat?
Category:Sikh Practices
Date Posted:Thursday, 2/02/2006 7:45 AM MST

I work at a children's nursery and we are considering buying all our meat from a Halal butcher. A member of staff, who is a Sikh, has said she doesn't want to serve this to children as it is against her religion.

Obviously we are aware that Sikh's wouldn't eat this meat, but can you confirm the procedure regarding handling it, cooking it and serving it?
Many thanks for your help
Lesley

confirmed. Sikhs do not eat halal meat, but the Sikh in question feels strongly that dealing with it in any way is against her religion. This is her interpretation of her religion, please accommodate her. Sat nam.
