Sat nam. Siri Guru Granth Sahib was read in its entirety during the last days of Guru Gobind Singh's life.
As long as Akhand Paath is unbroken, and the setting for Guru is graceful and gurdwara protocol met, Akhand Paath in home is OK. Helps to have the homeowner monitor the readers and engage sevadars and sangat to help with reading, prasad, keeping gurdwara graceful, keeping home graceful etc. during that time.
Many many Sikhs have rooms for 'Babaji' and many many of them around the world will hold an Akhand Paath in honor of a special occassion, such as birth, death, new home, gurpurb, etc.
Guru ang sang,
