Sat Nam! Thank you for your kind words about the Youth Forum.
There is a big difference between kachera and shorts. Kachera trap a pocket of air around the hips and genitals and they are closed at the bottom around the legs, whereas shorts are open. That pocket of warm air keeps the hip joints (where the calcium absorbtion is critical due to the large capilary/bone area) and the genitals protected. Kachera are so comfortable, and they serve as aconstant reminder to be aware of our sexual energy and how we use it.
